Details:
The Kustard Kings'' 2002 Confidential Recordings release "Blam!" was hailed as a tour-de-force, and marked the recording debut of this popular instrumental pop-funk-lounge combo. And now, spurred on by the excitement and reaction to that long-awaited first release, the exuberant group has headed right back into the studio to create a memorable follow-up album for the holidays.

Yes, here comes "A Kustard Kristmas"! The season finds the Kings sending out a joyous and unique interpretation of the holiday spirit. Highlights include their rendition of the Beatles'' "Christmas Time Is Here Again," a new take on the charity-inspired "Do They Know It''s Christmas" and Fountains of Wayne''s "I Want An Alien For Christmas." Other songs range from the funky/classic ("Santa Baby") to the original ("U Sleigh Me," penned by Kings'' founder
David Terhune).

Since their formation in 1992, the Kings have not only honed their signature, wickedly tight sound, they have become the perfect house band for the renowned Loser''s Lounge tribute series [https://www.tradebit.com]. Loser''s Lounge honorees have included Burt Bacharach, David Bowie, Brian Wilson and Donovan.

Over the years, The Loser''s Lounge performances have featured guest appearances by the likes of John Flansburgh, Deborah Harry, Lee Hazelwood, James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Lenny Kaye, Cyndi Lauper, J. Mascis, John Cameron Mitchell (composer and star of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch"), Bob Mould, Parker Posey, Joey Ramone, Ronnie Spector and Paul Williams.

Write-ups in The Daily News, USA Today, New York Magazine, New York Post,Time Out, Pulse! and The New York Times have all praised the Kustard Kings musical virtuosity and diversity.

Current Kings'' members include guitarist/composer/arranger/founder David Terhune; keyboardist/arranger/Loser''s Lounge founder Joe McGinty(Psychedelic Furs, Ramones); bassist Jeremy Chatzky (session player for artists including Bruce Springsteen and They Might Be Giants, member of Ronnie Spector''s band); guitarist/"A Kustard Kristmas" producer Kris Woolsey (Cardinal Woolsey, Fountains of Wayne); and drummer Clem Waldmann of Blue Man Group. This line-up is supplemented by some friends, including Eddy Zweiback on percussion and Julian Maile on theramin.

"A Kustard Kristmas," from Confidential Recordings, brings New York''s finest instrumental pop-funk-lounge combo to the forefront, as they step out with their upbeat take on the holiday. The album features original tunes and some new twists on a few chestnuts. With their patent-pending tight sound, you may still be listening to "A Kustard Kristmas" long after the holidays are over.
