Details:
Alpha Transit is an all-original jam band that takes the usual elements of funk, rock, jazz, and blues and the not so usual elements of electronic and dance music and puts them in the blender with a double shot of improvisation.

Transit Comes Alive!, the newest addition to the Alpha Transit catalog, is the first of a two part series of releases recorded 100 percent live at the Milwaukee Ale House during the summer of 2008. The titles of these recordings pay tribute to the seemingly distant era when the record buying masses encouraged and supported their favorite groups extending and improvising on their songs in the live jam format. This recording and the soon to be released Made In Milwaukee showcase the group doing what it does best; steering the music through the map of their compositions, fusing white knuckle improvisations with relentless grooves, and taking the entire audience with them on the mind-boggling journey.

Alpha Transit began as trio in October of 2003 with Adam Berzowski on keyboards, Geoff Howard on bass and Tim Rush on drums. To complete their sound, virtuosic guitarist Kirk Tatnall was added in October of 2005, bringing his catalog of compositions into the fold of their already strong base of music. Their versatility as well as detailed attention to balance and tone have given them a quickly growing, diverse fan base that continues to multiply.

"The opening cut on Alpha Transit''s debut album begins with a wash of ascending, extendedly dark harmonies that plunge into a relentless space-funk groove. The entire album is a blast and offers a full plate to groove-minded and intent listeners alike. With styles ranging from the aforementioned funk to the Eastern European/jazz-flavored "F.A.F." to the aptly bluesy "Another Fricken Blues," the playing is tight and consistently intriguing. Milwaukee guitarist Kirk Tatnall adds his unique blend of styles to the lineup of Geoff Howard on bass, Adam Berzowski on keys and Tim Rush on drums. If you get a chance to see Alpha Transit play locally, jump on it—the show is sure to combine exceptional musicianship and a great vibe." - Jason Seed, Shepherd Express

Wanna hear some funky stuff? Check out Milwaukee''s Alpha Locomotive. Hard to say exactly what''s going on here, but it''s very cool. Jazz-meets-funk, tweaked with shades of Beck-like rants by way of Vox Humana. Can you dig it? I knew that you could… If this stuff feels good in your pocket, check out the related project Alpha Transit. It''s just as funky, with a tight punch and stellar musicianship at an accessible level usually ignored by the genre. Everything is wide open here, with soaring guitar solos, funkalicious rhythms and actual melody lines that banter from player to player as they pass solo efforts to and fro. Sort of makes you want to go out and buy modern jazz records. Well, buy one cool new record at their CD release party at Milwaukee''s BBC, where they celebrate their self-titled debut March 23.
