MP3 Lanky - Inner Onwriter

Acoustic indie pop- intimate, open-hearted, honest, compelling and engaging with richly colored textures, electro-acoustic sonicism and a voice from a dream.

10 MP3 Songs
POP: Folky Pop, ROCK: Acoustic

Details:
LANKY is the moniker adopted by Wayne, NJ''s Frank Stabile, who spent the summer of 2002 creating his solo debut CD Inner Onwriter. The hook laden pop record, recorded mostly at home, benefits from a `whatever it takes'' approach.

"There wasn''t a plan other than committing the song ideas to tape. Most times I was the only guy in the room, so I would just add and try ideas until it felt right. The bottom line was if it felt good at the end of the day, it stayed."

What stayed are nine songs of personal reflection that are as confident as they are vulnerable.

Inner Onwriter was mixed by Patrick Thrasher. Produced by Lanky and Wayne Dorell. Released nationally in January of 2003.

In addition to regular performances in New York and New Jersey, Lanky is currently touring the Southeast and Midwest U.S. as well as Canada.

PRESS:
"The ten tunes are reminiscent of John Mayer, and Sting with a dose of Jeff Buckley, but the album has an
irresistible innocence and longing that is distinctly Lanky''s own." -Performing Songwriter

"...a comfortable voice, thoughtful lyrics and a nice power-pop approach to the guitar." - Washington Post

"...Stabile''s voice is astoundingly smooth, making it remarkably easy to digest lyrics that are sometimes tinged with angst and bitterness. As a result, the album can be both dark and bright, always tugging at your heartstrings and leaving you wanting more." - Rockpile

"Stabile is an effective songwriter with an unerring ear for hooks and catchy choruses...the composition and craft are evident, and the enthusiasm is infectious and undeniable." -Tris McCall, Jersey Beat

"A great batch of folk-based singer/songwriter musings loaded with Duncan Sheik-worthy hooks, Beck-like cleverness, the sensitivity of John Mayer and a Nada Surf brightness that translates into one of those classic releases you''ll go back to again and again." - Aquarian Weekly

"Lanky''s music is as fun as it meaningful, with catchy rhythms and reflective lyrics." - Courier News

"The ten songs...are full of luscious textures and a clear pristine vocal...Lanky is a gifted artist and manages to stake out an original and fresh sound wrapped in accessible and familiar song structures. There are no throw away songs on Inner Onwriter and the mellow "Exit Ramp", the introspective "Anybody", and the experimental sound of "Sympathy" prove that Lanky has no bounds.
-Wilmington Star

"We fell quickly for Lanky''s Ben Folds on Jeff Buckley inflections and lyrical subtleties. Don''t let this guy slip through your fingers." - Aquarian

"[Lanky] combines power-pop buoyancy with searching, diary-like lyrics. He and the album''s co-producer, Wayne Dorell, play most of the instruments, taking great care to give each track a distinct set of textures, while Lanky''s vocal strategy ranges from worried murmuring to soulful rapture." - Star-Ledger

"This is an impressive solo debut for Lanky... His combination of sparkly pop and very real lyrics work wonders here, making the disc much more compelling. The songs seem to go by much faster than the actual running time, which leaves you wanting more by the time they each finish." - Delusions of Adequacy

"Introspective lyrics and straightforward rock adorn Inner Onwriter with startling strength." - Flash Magazine
