Details:
Identity Crisis is Charlie Hiestand, Jean Mishler, and a bunch of good friends. Mosaic is an album that tells a story, with each piece being like a little chapter. It''s a love story, and frankly I''m not too sure it turns out well, not at all. We hear their motivation for starting the relationship, their attempts at maintaining it, and finally the dissolution of the relationship.

The songs vary widely in style, from Bossa Nova to eight-bar blues to art song with string orchestra. The story and the musical ideas hold the thing together. These musical ideas (a particular bass line, how certain things are orchestrated, etc) give coherence, structure, and arch to the many different styles of music. The story isn''t exactly spelled out, you kinda have to squint a little. But it gives an emotional arch to the CD which is powerful and attractive from the first listening.

Charlie and Jean are professional musicians living in Seattle. The whole little troop that put this together is Seattle based except Melanie Fernandi, the writer of Favorite Game, who is now living in New York. It took us over three years to complete the CD, (low budget, high aspirations), so there are lots of stories worth telling. It did give us time to polish; the CD sounds great!

We are very proud of the results of a lot of work. We think this is music very much worth listening to. Enjoy!
