2ND is a multi-talented new up and coming recording artist in a class of his own!. His music is heaven-sent as is he; a prolific songwriter producer, composer and all around artist -- just listen to the variety on "Freaky Mon!" His latest debut album -- and decide for yourself!. 2nd is a self contained artist in the music genres of Reggae, Hip-Hop and R&B Soul. Some have called him a rare and true artist, a diamond in the ruff who is multi-talented in his own right, while others have called him a true "Genius!". Born in the boogie down Bronx in NYC home of Rap legends KRS-One, D-Nice, DJ Scott La Rock (RIP) and others – 2ND always considered himself to be a good Artist who just was not signed at the time, but he knew it would happen eventually, and sure enough it did when a new up and coming record label named ASTRO/GENESIS RECORDS discovered him and decided to sign him!.
The new label hosted a talent showcase where 2ND who was then known as "2nd In Command", came in "1st place!" And beat out numerous acts for a Grand Prize of a Record Deal. 2ND went on to write and produce numerous songs for the new label, producing and co producing tracks for their artists, as well as bringing on board a new female kid group to the label named “Flavors” that he also managed. 2ND developed and produced two hot singles for the young group entitled: “What’s The Flavor” and “2 Scoops Of Funk”. These 2 singles along with 8 singles of 2ND''s, and 6 singles from 5 additional artists who were also signed to the AGR label, were to be featured on a brand new compilation CD entitled: “ON THE RISE”. But sadly dramatic changes within the AGR labels management and finance department, lead to huge financial setbacks that hampered the entire AGR "On The Rise" Compilation Cd project, in addition to 2ND’s new debut album that was never released.
As a result of what transpired, recording artists right here in NYC who had won a similar showcase likened to 2ND''s, did not receive a record deal as promised.
2ND’s then growing fan base was completely shot!. On the streets of NYC he would often encounter angry artists (or relatives or friends of artists who had won a record deal from an AGR showcase,) who would vent their frustration and anger at him. They somehow assumed that because 2ND was signed as the #1 top artist on the new label, that he may have somehow have been in on this scam to host talent showcases, collect ticket monies, have the artists win the showcase, and then skip town and not deliver to the winners what was promised to them which was a record deal.
2ND''s name had been tarnished for his affiliation with the AGR record label, and he was no longer looked upon as the top talented new artist singed to an up and coming new indie label, but rather the top talented new artist singed to, and who probably was most likely in on a scam that took place on behalf of new indie labels talent showcases. The good the bad and the ugly, the dark side of the music business, the things that so many do not see behind the close doors of the entertainment industry. Sentiments of what happened to 2ND can be heard in a very passionate song on his album entitled: "Long Long Road".
Being very disappointed and completely devastated by all the chain of events that transpired at that time after giving so much of his raw talent, energy, time and supreme dedication and commitment to the AGR record label and to see nothing materialize as a result, 2ND prayed to God for guidance and still remained faithful, confident, and optimistic that he would make it in the music industry. So he decided to take what he could from the experience and start fresh again, he would drop the “In Command” from his name to leave only "2ND", most people who knew him always called him that for short anyway. 2ND would then take a huge risk, a leap of faith as some might call it, and with a little help from his family and supportive investors, he decided to forge ahead with his talent and start his own independent record label called, ICP Records. 2ND wrote, produced and arranged the tunes, "HOME", “FREAKY MON”, "ACAPELLO", “ROOTS AND CULTURE”, “LONG LONG ROAD”,, “STAY STRAPPED”, "LICK IT", “REAL”, "GIRL ITS YOU" and more... All of which you will hear on his very 1st debut album entitled: "FREAKY MON", which features over "19 Single Releases!".
In just two short weeks from the albums official release in September 2008, 2nd already has two “HOT” new singles on the charts. His HOT new single "Acapello" is now Number One! On the TOP TEN REQUESTED SINGLES on the QYK-TOP 40 radio station. His song recently hit the Number Eighty spot on the HOT ONE HUNDRED SINGLES CHART! Right next to his many admirer’s Alicia Keys, John Mayer, Mariah Cary, Usher and even Little Wayne!. Acapello” is still holding steady in the Number one position on the TOP TEN MOST DOWNLOADS on Air Play Access. “Acapello” also hit the AC/HOT AC UP & COMING CHART In the Number seven SPOT. It hit Number three on the AC/HOT AC MOST ADDED CHART, Number four on the AC/HOT AC SPIN INCREASE CHART, Number two on the AC/HOT AC PRIME MOVER CHART, Number thirty on the AC/HOT AC TOP THIRTY INDIE CHART, Number Twenty Eight on the TOP-FOURTY TOP THIRTY INDIE CHART, NUMBER EIGHT on the TOP-FOURTY PRIME MOVER CHART right next to one of 2nd’s huge admires, Christina Aguilera. “Acapello” also made the TOP-FOURTY UP & COMING CHART right next to artists like T-pain, LL Cool J, Ne-Yo, Lil Wayne and John Mayer. 2ND will be the featured performer on a special “After the Storms Aid Concert” to help aid Hurricane Storm victims and charitable organizations providing assistance to them (Red Cross, Save the Children, UNICEF, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans, North Shore Animal League, Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Salvation Army {LA, MS, AL Division}, Hands On Network, Harvest Hope Food Bank and Atlanta Community Food Bank, among others).
