Some info about Rich:
Rich Russell was born in NYC in 1979. He grew up in a nice brick house with a happy family and two cats in Greenpoint Brooklyn. Sometime during the hipster invasion of the late 90''s he ran off to California to live in the Redwood trees and learn to eat twigs and berries at U.C. Santa Cruz. In Santa Cruz he played in world renowned bands such as "Cerveza Gratis" and "Slick Badacle." He hit the road sometime thereafter, eventually ending up immersed in the New Age Movement in Boulder Colorado. Never able to fully grasp what most people were talking about most of the time, he hit the highways once again with a new band "Me and Shane" to tour the West Coast. Playing 18 shows in 25 days with reputable bands "Wisp" and "Little Wings," "Me and Shane" made gas money and slept in the car a lot, all the while having a grand time. Money and spare parts for the van running low, the band went its separate ways in the summer of 2003. Some moved west to California, others east to NYC, while others followed the sun to Mexico. Rich ended up in a palapa somewhere on the west coast of Mexico for some months eating fruit and playing mariachi songs with friends. On the beach he took his musical, surfing, and tanning skills to new heights and set off once again to spread music wherever he went. Following his dreams to be a country singer Rich landed in Austin Texas for the Kerrville Folk Festival in May 2004. In Austin he ran into a bunch of musicians converting an abandoned nursing home into an affordable living space for musicians, now known as the Austin Music Coop. He signed on as Kitchen Manager and now enjoys the first days of his partial retirement playing music with his band The Lonesome Heroes and washing dishes in and around country.
