Details:
"Breathing" collects five songs written while Ron was living in the East Village (NYC). The lyrics and musical inspiration came from the elements at hand: late nights at 7B, garbage on E. 6th, reflections on 9/11, crazy actors & spoiled models, Bruce the cat, unemployment, a tattered copy of "A Farewell to Arms," and quarreling lovers outside of his window.
The CD was recorded and produced by good friends Keith Hanlon (Orchestraville, Black Swans) and Jason Gonzales (Lilly Bandits). They also supplied some amazing performances, along with Ron’s former bandmate Pat Kenney (The Repairmen, Lollipop Factory).
Reviews for Ron Hester’s previous release "In Between":
"...Hester sounds vocally like he spent time in the Lou Reed school of crooning, but he is a good songwriter with a nice collection of acoustic-based rock tunes, most notably the powerful ''Stupid Stories''."
- Andrew Aber, The Village Voice
"...at the intersection of indie-rock and alt-country, is Ron Hester, a talented performer..."
- Curtis Fields, The Washington Post
"...It''s just that in an era overly concerned with outhipping the hip, it''s sometimes pleasant to see or hear a simple idea executed well. Ron Hester''s music is simple and effective, and he makes no attempt to make apologies or excuses for it. There''s no need to: ''In Between'' won''t leave you feeling conflicted... just satisfied."
- Jenn Sikes, Splendid E-zine
