Music...my necessity, my anchor, my passion. Ever since I was 16 years old I have practiced guitar. I would just pick a subject and come up with music and lyrics. Life experiences good and bad have given my inspiration. All my friends, people who aren''t my friends, family, places I have been, even my dreams inspire me. Joni Mitchell, Carol King, Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart, Neil Young, Stones....a few of my favorites. I listen to different genres...everything from R&B to jazz, new age, and some country to keep me learning about music, but I think my style leans toward ROCK. Which lead me to "Zonixx The Band". I had an opportunity to introduce a few of my songs to these guys! They want to rock! So I learned more cover tunes and we started practicing as a band. I have learned a lot, and so far it has been a good experience.
So here I am, with Steven Barr (bassist/vocals and talented artist) and who I have been dating for some time, has a heart of gold and believes in me and motivates me to get out and PLAY. Frank Santilli (drummer & vocals) a long time friend who has the drive to play and kicks me in the butt to get out and play also. Jim Robinson (lead guitarist & vocals) who happens to be one of the best lead guitarists I have ever jammed with! And Bruce Langton...another talented artist and musician (guitar, vocals & keyboard) writes a few of his own songs as well.
Thank you all!
Steven Barr - Bass Guitar, Lead Vocals
I used to sing in the shower and play air guitar. Then when I was in the Service stationed in Japan, I bought my first real guitar and started playing. This then lead to being in a group in college where I was mainly a lead singer. Well, responsibilities seem to creep in and all of this went by the wayside. Time and some of those responsibilities passed by and then one day:
I ran into a musician friend and told him about my lovely, talented, musician/songwriting, artist, girlfriend. He said "I''m not really interested in starting a band, but come on over sometime and lets jam." The next Saturday afternoon we did just that. We arrived late but, much to our surprise there was also a drummer and bass player waiting for us. After going through several of my girlfriends original songs, my friend looked up and said "Lets start a band!" The drummer and bass player from that original gathering had other aspirations so it was a natural to ask two others we knew that were chomping at the bit to play music. It just came together so easily that it seemed a natural. From just about our first gathering we knew we had something special.
I love the variety of tunes and originals we play and I hope you will also. It''s a pleasure to be a part of this talented group of musicians we call "Zonixx the Band."
Bruce Langton - Keyboards, Guitar & Vocals
Ever since I can remember I have been interested in music and art and to me they go hand in hand. When I was a junior in high school I sat down with my art & music teachers along with my counselor and we decided which direction my career should go. I choose art but I have always had a dream of being on stage. It''s just my nature and for some odd reason, I just have to be in front of people. It''s where I feel most comfortable. I have had a wonderfully successful career as a fine artist and have been fortunate to become nationally renowned for what I truly love most.
After being bit by the the early rock influences of the 60''s with bands such as The Beatles, Stones, Eric Clapton, Eagles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, I started playing guitar & drums but stopped playing when I got married and helped to raise my family. As my boys were growing up and showed an interest in piano, I decided to take lessons with them. Since then I have been playing guitar and piano and love being able to mix my own sound on today''s excitable synthesizers.
Today I am happy to be in a band that is very motivated and directional in maintaining quality control in each song we perform no matter if it''s our own music or cover songs.
I am thrilled to be jamming with my friends and great musicians in the band we call "ZONIXX"
Jim Robinson - Lead Guitar & Vocals
When the Beatles first hit the airwaves I was hooked! That''s when my search to play guitar began. There were those basement jams with friends at my Mom & Dads house in high school, getting excited about playing out there somewhere, anywhere.
Creating music is an adventure, performing for people is an experience.
Guess I''ve been around awhile. Some of my most recent adventures have been playing with Mack Pherson & the Struts featuring Jackie Pittman, Skybolt and the Jimmy James Band. I''ve been lucky to have played and jammed with so many talented Musicians in the area. Since this is a bio, most important: always thanks to my Loving Wife, with all those long practices and late gigs.
Now it is time for a truly new & unique New Sound, which is: "ZONIXX the Band." We''re different - Originals, Covers, Lots of Vocals, Energy and Fun!
Hope to see you out there in the land of music and dreams.... Rock On!!!
Frank Santilli - Drums & Vocals
For the last three years I''ve been playing jazz with Sentimental Journey''s Big Band Ensemble, we play swing music from the 30''s, 40''s, 50''s & 60''s. I love old jazz, but my heart & soul is in Rock & Roll, so when these cats asked me to join them I jumped at the chance. It felt like a good fit for me right from the first session, this group was doing some great classics as well as some good new stuff I never heard before, like Black Horse Cherry Tree. I''ve been friends with Rebecca for many years so I already know most of her original songs.
With this blend of great classics, good new stuff & awesome originals, I know we have something really special, and I feel honored to play with such a great group of musicians.
