Details:
As a farmgirl from Ohio, Lilia grew up singing. She proudly announced to her parents when she was 3 years old that she wanted to be a "country sanger" (in her best southern accent). Since then, she has been composing her own songs, singing while playing piano or guitar... about whatever matters most to her at the specific season of her life. But the one theme that ties all of her music together is hope.

As a teacher in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, she has been inspired to write not only about what she has seen and experienced, but to write songs to encourage others along their own journeys. Getting a great response from playing in front of a variety of audiences, Lilia followed her heart and set out to record her first full-length CD.

Lilia''s debut CD, "The Cleansing" is very eclectic. Not really knowing which style of music she preferred at the time (some say she has commitment issues...), she simply recorded all of her favorite originals, and a beautiful progression emerged. The acoustic ballads ("Who am I" and "Why do I hold on") deal with inner struggles with her relationship with God. The all-out rock songs ("Saturate" and "Rain") delve into her un-satisfaction with the world as she sees it, and the desire to make changes. Stringing between those two genres are many different styles that are pleasing and fresh.

Since "The Cleansing" was produced, Lilia has taken to a semi-gypsy life on the road during the weekends when not teaching. The summers also provided great times to pack up the car and just drive to any location worth playing at. Because of the songs written on the road, Lilia decided to record her second album.

"The Ashes: official bootleg" was recorded the summer of ''04 in a friend''s recording studio in Nashville. It is a purely acoustic album, made up of the rough cuts of 8 songs. People have responded well to the live performances, and this CD has the feel of a coffeehouse show. So, grab your latte (or whatever caffeinated drink you prefer), turn the lights down, and allow yourself to be swept away with the melodies sung by this gifted singer/songwriter.

Now, with 5 years of teaching under her belt, and a collage from the 60 different venues played at over this past year, Lilia is taking off for a year of service to under-developed countries. She will be working the entirety of 2006 with different humanitarian organizations working to eradicate poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Her love for teaching and music, and her passion for hurting people will lead her to places that many are afraid to go.

"I feel that this is my time to be a part of something bigger than just me. I want to come alongside those working tirelessly to provide hope and a future to the next generations."
