Splendid World is the debut album of the Greek singer Maryanna Matiss. The recording was produced by Maryanna, Sofia her sister and Alan Cegarra. The songs speak of faith, hope and love, subjects close to Maryanna''s heart.
Maryanna is originally from Kalimnos, a little Greek Island in the Aegean sea. She currently lives between London, Paris and Madrid. No stranger to the recording industry, Maryanna sold 1 million records in Europe 5 years ago. That success was with a former group named "Charlie Makes The Cook", which she fronted with sister Sofia and friend Bethany. They cashed into their video appeal and toured extensively.
After the group disbanded, Maryanna took on the Splendid World project as a labor of love. She spent the tedious time to select and to co-write each song. She composed melodies with Alan Cegarra. George Palinacci the guitarist and arranger collaborated with them in several songs. Brit Jane Hanley, and American Cathy Grier worked with her on the lyrics, creating a harmonious team.
Maryanna also presided over studio sessions working closely with producer programmer arranger Alan Cegarra. Eric Pitchman rounded out the team, on drums, and some arrangements, and Yannick Top did some bass lines.
Maryanna is excited that with the completion of Splendid World, she will now focus on her love of performing. Her sultry new-age/pop mix sound is sure to captivate audiences with it''s distinct melodies.
