- Dirty Linen (Folk and World Music Magazine)

"Lissa Schneckenburger''s CD, Different Game is a knockout. A tasty selection of traditional and original material, mostly instrumental, but with some vocals that are well worth listening to. Lissa''s fiddling is artful, skillful, inventive and full of feeling. I had to listen again and again!"
- Jay Ungar (Composer of Ashokan Farewell)

"Lissa blows out the cobwebs in no uncertain fashion... Lissa Schneckenburger''s name is one we ought to be hearing more of."
- Folk Roots (England)

Fiddler Lissa Schneckenburger''s latest recording Different Game, newly released this March, 2001, pulls traditional fiddle repertoire from Irish, Scottish, French Canadian, and contemporary folk music.

Schneckenburger is backed by a group of fabulous traditional Irish, and contradance musicians from the New England area on guitar, piano, bass, bodhran, and mandolin. Different Game includes several vocal numbers, heartfelt waltzes, and upbeat dance tunes.

About the new recording, Darol Anger (founding member of Turtle Island String Quartet) says, "Lissa has the sound of Celtic fiddle in her hands, in her head, and in her heart."

Different Game is a sequel to Schneckenburger''s first CD The Mad Hatter, released in 1997 (Outer Green Records). The Mad Hatter has been aired on National Public Radio''s international Celtic show, Thistle & Shamrock, and has been reviewed in every major folk publication in the United States as well as several in Europe.

Ms. Schneckenburger has been featured in countless radio and television broadcasts, including a solo on National Public Television''s A Taste of Chanukah filmed in New England Conservatory''s Jordan Hall, a live performance on WBZ Boston, and annual features on Maine Public Radio''s Live at 11. She has opened for artists such as Alasdair Fraser, Skyedance, and Judy Collins.

As well as having a blossoming solo career, Lissa is one of the founding members of the acoustic fiddle band, Halali, from Boston, and is also the featured violinist with the Celtic rock group, Mad Pudding, from Vancouver, BC. As a member of these ensembles, Lissa has played shows throughout the US, Canada, UK, and the Netherlands.

Where Lissa is not known for her fiddling, she is known for having possibly the longest last name in all of New England (15 letters!!!) This means that on the CD cover her name had to be written side ways! Anyone wanting to compete with their own last names can contact her through her web site. (Which ironically doesn''t include her last name at all- it''s just https://www.tradebit.com to make things a little easier)
