MISTA CAVI BIO Hip-hop heads always want to know: What''s hot? Who''s buzzing? What''s banging? And whose got the sh*t? As heads fall all over each other as they pursue the new, the old is left behind and the future doesn''t matter. With the advent of the Internet and its music downloading capabilities and IM, MP3s, Ipods and text messaging, there is no past, there is no future, there is only what is happening right now, especially for new artists. The hottest new artist in hip-hop with all the buzz is Mista Cavi with his banging new joint “Raw & Uncut pt. 2”. The first album “Raw & Uncut pt. 1” was the sh*t, as anyone who has downloaded it can surely tell you. Mista Cavi is a handsome 26-year old heartbreaker and a smooth operating moneymaker. He is a hit maker and a faker hater who is serving notice to all doubters, biters and wannabes with the warning: Back the f*ck up and recognize! With his inimitable Cavi style and hard earned street credibility, Mista Cavi is bringing his brand of grimy West Coast hip-hop to an eager public always grateful for the real, straight from the gutter realities of the Los Angeles underground. “Good hip-hop is like good p*ssy … hot and tight. You know-I-mean? Something I can fill with my flow over a heavy bottom and share with my homies,” says Mista Cavi. Mista Cavi stopped mincing words when he was a child. He speaks his mind and shames the devil. That''s what makes this rapper/lyricist so effective in his ability to say what''s on his mind and dispense with having to mind what he says. He is who he is and he says what he sees. Always. As a youngster growing up in South Central Los Angeles, while other kids were tripping about pimples, Mista Cavi was gang bangin’ with his big homies. While other kids were riding the bus and trying to avoid gangsters and hustlers on the corner, Mista Cavi was happily who-riding on the boulevard (Crenshaw), banging, slanging and getting paper and knowledge. Before it begins to sound too much like Mista Cavi''s lifestyle was somehow a better choice than that of his less adventurous contemporaries it must be noted for the record that as a result of the lifestyle he led, Mista Cavi saw many of his friends murdered in their teens, and he has been shot on and seriously wounded two different occasions. He almost died. “I''ve gone through all kinds of sh*t man. I''ve been shot at. Every car I’ve owned has been shot up, even my license plates, and that wouldn''t have been so bad except for the fact that I was usually in the car at the time. There''re a lot of haters out there man. There''re people out there who don''t like you having bread, or they jealous cause they see you on the come up. I used to get into all kinds of beef with cats on that hater sh*t you know? And niggas in L.A. ain’t tryin’ to knuckles up. It’s the wild wild west man what do you expect? I''m taking a different approach through my music now. I''ll always be on the paper chase, but hip-hop is a different way to eat and I can shoot from the lip instead of the hip… You know, be even more effective in what I''m trying to accomplish, for sure,” says Mista Cavi. Although Mista Cavi was heavily involved with the streets as a teen, his interest in music had been established far earlier due to the fact that his father, Ben White had been a successful R&B recording artist back in the 1970s years before. At the age of 14 Mista Cavi used the money he had gained from hustling in the streets to put himself in a music recording studio. He made mix tapes and albums for his friends to bump in their rides while they rolled around the many neighborhoods of South Central Los Angeles. Mista Cavi never thought that his music would be so well received and that people would be willing to pay $10 dollars a wop for his CDs. In 2005, Mista Cavi made an album of his mix-tapes entitled “Raw & Uncut.” Purely on the strength of talent and street savvy of Mista Cavi, his hit laden, underground CD exploded onto the streets, selling over 27,000 units (CDs). He sold the hotly sought after CDs out-of-the trunk of his car in just three months. This landed Mista Cavi in a position to market his music nationally. That’s when Cavi released his Biggest Mixtape “The Takeover” which got him national recognition including a big report in The Source Magazine. For those who don''t truly understand what the term Cavi really means … It''s like this: The word Cavi is a term first born on the boulevards, avenues and cruising strips of the streets of black Los Angeles. The term Cavi is an expression of the supreme appreciation for what is considered to be the most elite style, flavor and attitude most respected on the streets at any particular time. Cavi represents the very best of what every body likes and respects out there where the players play and the killers slay. Cavi is what catches the eyes and the ears. Your clothes can be Cavi, your car can be Cavi … even the way you walk and talk can be Cavi. And certainly the work of a master rapper/lyricist can be Cavi. That being said - imagine what it means to be known as Mista Cavi, and to not only use the name with maximum understanding of the term''s full meaning and impact, but to actually be it. “Having Cavi talent is just a blessing that was given to me. You know-I-mean? It''s natural. It''s not like something that I''m trying to do. Just listen to my music and you''ll feel me,” says Mista Cavi. You can''t help but feel Mista Cavi on his breakout 16-track CD “Raw & Uncut pt.2.” Before heads can stop talking about Mista Cavi''s first leak from the CD, the trunk music banger “Get Hi,” they will be talking about the raw emotion of "U Can Be My B*tch” and the cut “Game” featuring Suga Free and Kokane. Then the buzz will start all over again with the track “Un Huh” featuring Justin Fargas of the Oakland Raiders. Mista Cavi wrote all the songs on the CD with help from hit making Cali producers Kenny McCloud (“Un Hun" featuring Justin Fargas) and DaNeckbones (on 4 tracks). East Coast producer Spliffed Out and Interscope in-house producers also put in work on the CD. Hip-hop may have started in New York but L.A. took it to the next level. With no other Hip-Hop artist representing Los Angeles (L.A. is not Compton, Long Beach or Wattz). Mista Cavi is reestablishing Los Angeles as the spearhead for the cutting edge of grimy hip-hop with his new CD “Raw & Uncut pt.2.”
