Matthew Wegienka has lived his life with music as a musician, songwriter, and entertainer. He began developing his musical talents at age fourteen when he took piano lessons. Four years later, Matt tackled the accordion. He went on to play saxophone in the high school band. Upon entering the U.S. Army in 1941, he spent almost 45 months of service playing in the band and doing some musical arrangements for them as well.
After returning home he organized a seven-piece dance band, called Matt and his Royal Blackhawks which played around the Detroit area for various functions.
Matt has composed over 280 songs. Most of his songs are of the dance genre. He has written fox trot, waltz, Latin, polka, and march music. Many of his themes are humorous, political, religious and novelty.
Matt and his wife, Carrie have six children, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren
