Details:
The world first came to know Milo Bobbins when Dr. Demento picked up his song, "Condoms for Christmas," which went all the way to the top three of the Christmas Funny Forty in 1992. Joe Esterhasz subsequently picked the song up for the soundtrack of "Burn, Hollywood, Burn." By day, a Clark Kent-like, mild-mannered news reporter, Milo unwinds at home with his guitar before picking up his pencil and legal pad to write. Venturing out to local folk clubs, he tries his music out with audiences who have sometimes called him a bi-polar writer, who ranges from satirical, scatalogical songs like "Two-fisted Charlie" to dark meditations like "Ralph''s Corner Bar." Brother of legendary harmonica player, Billy, from the midwest''s renowned folk-blues-goodtime-music band, City Mouse, Milo coaxes the band with beer to back him up at gigs and on the CD''s. "Just Enough Money for Beer" is Milo''s second CD; the first, "The Struggle to Free Milo Bobbins," from 2002, is currently out of print. All of the songs except two from the public domain are original. Milo''s influences include all the hymns and music he heard in church, John Prine, Tom Lehrer, Emmylou Harris, Tom Paxton, Bob Dylan, the Fugs, Joe Ely, Guy Clark, Randy Newman, Greg Brown, the Reverend Gary Davis, and many more too numerous to mention. Music is a gift from God, and as the old spiritual tune puts it, "How can I keep from singing?"
