The Crystal Dome is a multimedia electronic opera (a musical story...) This CD is an "instrumental only" version of it - with choir. All proceeds from the sales - if any - will go towards the live production of this opera, to which you are invited. The full story of Nell is inside the CD. There is a narrative, a choir, live instruments, actors and video in this opera. This is a work that comes from very far. It is only now that technology has allowed me to put these ideas into music. The structure of the piece is in itself quite intricate: I tried my best to avoid the inevitable occidental notion of theme and variations. Nowhere, I believe, is there a musical idea that is followed by some extension or development of thematic notes or melody. I have formulated this music through the notions of "sound instruments", "derivatives", "master tones", etc. to express what I feel is music from our time and to let Nell and the Crystal Dome, 50 years from now, tell us something about our time under the Light.
The pieces are built on relationships of sound-families, of frequencies and their dependencies. They progress through time with additions and substitutions of musical frames, always in motion yet always static, a bit like time itself.
