TEAM ENVY
At the age of 15 & 16, both Fame and Mavrik began working toward finding their true niche in the music industry. With the both of them having a natural gift for rapping and poetically speaking about everything going on in their lives as well as a growing passion for Hip-Hop, they continued to build a music/business and most importantly a brotherly relationship. Christopher “F.A.M.E” Gardner and Blake “MAVRIK” Engles have been flooding the streets with their own sound for years. Both born and raised in Harlem, New York City it was easy for the two to express emotion through their music using life experiences. With their mature and seasoned sound it’s not hard to see that they’re among the elite, and like no other rap duo ever to touch a microphone. Team Envy has a broad sound that can spark many emotions to the listener. They have tracks like “Turn It Up” that’ll make you want to dance, as well as tracks like “Hold On” which speaks about injustice in society, yet gives inspiration and motivation. Their versatility and style along with their sound demonstrates everything entertainment should be about. This is a sound that was embraced in the summer of 2003 when the rap duo was part of a compilation album “The Life” distributed by MLife productions that sold 2500 units independently. Team Envy then went on to perform at numerous venues in and out of the city, perfecting their showmanship as well as their stage presence. It was through their journey of performances and using their musical gift for recording, that led the duo to create songs such as their hit single featuring Harlem the Artist “The Glow’’, “Listen Up’’ which is directed toward the label executives, “123’’ a feel good party record, and the list goes on. Team Envy’s music clearly shows that they are a unique group that gives you the feeling that they are indeed of Great Iconic Talent. Within steps to become Hall Of Fame worthy artists, all that is needed is THE opportunity. Through the duration of their careers Mavrik and Fame got the chance to grow as writers when they were called upon to write along side of Harlem the Artist for R&B submission projects, such as that of Chris Brown, Ciara, Tyrese, Young Steph, Def Jams up and coming artist Elite, and many more. In 2006 Team Envy independently dropped their mix tape Humble Beginnings which went on to sell close to 3000 copies. “We not only have what it takes to be in the industry, but we have what it takes to run the industry”, Fame says and Mavrik quickly agrees. Team Envy spent all Winter working on their highly anticipated album, performed in several venues through out the Spring, received a nomination for the Best Rap Duo 2008 @ The Underground Music Awards early Summer and NOW they have released “Legends in the Making” the album.
