By taking one day at a time and valuing each individual, Thor prides himself on becoming a lesser known artist with a larger sized circle of friends.
Thor’s knack for writing to specific situations or people in a straightforward, simple fashion makes each of his songs unique and personable. In a matter of a few phrases he is able to capture a mood, expression, or thought with a measured amount of accuracy; providing just enough material for the listener to create a picture for themselves. His lyrical creativity and musical simplicity is evidenced in both his debut, self-produced recording, ”Take the Yellow Lights” and again in his first full length album, “Hope is the Future Tense”. Although both highlight Thor’s creativity and simplicity, there is a great deal of maturity between these two recordings. In the first, it is clear Thor is still becoming comfortable with the way his voice and guitar work together. “Hope is the Future Tense” on the other hand is a great piece of art that demonstrates the same dynamic realness Thor expresses while playing live.
Thor is a classy sort of songwriter who makes you feel a little bit awkward and perfectly comfortable at the same time because of his kind spirited honesty. It is interesting to see Thor play his songs live, because rather than perform, Thor is able to carry on a conversation with the audience and interact at a personal level with each in attendance. It is rare type of exchange that must be experienced to understand.
Thor continues to patiently take his music to people who are willing to listen and pass by those who are in too much of a rush to pay attention.
