"If I''m not writing, playing or thinking about music then I''m probably either sleeping or having sex," jokes Todd Pasternack, the singer-songwriter/guitarist behind marlow. Todd''s songwriting influences--strains of Tom Petty, Aimee Mann, Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello, and the Black Crowes, among others, shine through and entwine with Pasternack''s own unique musical approach, one developed and road tested through years of rock and jamband experience, and now infused with a bit of a pop flavor.

On his critically acclaimed 2002 debut rock album, White Out, Pasternack harvested a tremendous amount of strength and inspiration from his personal interpretation of a 21st Century love story gone wrong. Collectively, the songs provide a window into the life of both Todd and his audience. The album spans the spectrum from touching ballads with beautiful harmonies to hard rockers spitting with confused anguish. All Music Guide claims, "White Out may very well be the most melancholic roots rock effort of 2002...a promising debut."

marlow''s second release, The World Before It Ever Was, tells a different story. Todd shows that even if he could go back to the beginning of his life, he''d make all the same decisions that led him to today. "It''s really tough to look at your life, the decisions you made, and make sense of it all. But in some strange way, it does make sense somehow. At least so far," Pasternack says. Album lyrics span from teen-age displacement to crushing rock ''n roll fantasies to finding real love and happiness and acceptance of what life throws at us all. Albany''s TIMES UNION calls the new album, "...a gem, full of ear-catching melodies, irresistibly bouncy rhythms and glorious vocal harmonies."

At the age of 28, Pasternack brings a wealth of experience to the table. His first major project, the critically acclaimed Mr. Ferguson Band, recorded two albums of Todd''s early compositions. In 1999 Todd joined the ranks of the established touring jam-funk band Ominous Seapods , becoming not only lead guitarist but one of the main songwriters in the band throughout a Rykodisc/Palm Pictures recording contract (releasing "The Super Man Curse" with producer Glenn Rosenstein) and extensive touring throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. Along the way, Pasternack shared the stage with moe., Mike Gordon of Phish, John Medeski of Medeski, Martin and Wood, as well as Butch Trucks and Oteil Burbridge of the Allman Brothers, and DJ Logic.

Marlow formed in 2001 as an outlet for Pasternack to grab the creative reigns yet again and release a musical vision in a more personal way than ever before. "This is my life so far as music. And who knows," Todd says with a smile, "maybe some of it''s your life, too."
