Matthew Moon has emerged as one of the freshest voices in the Rocky Mountain region. Moon''s songwriting ranges from folk rock reminiscent of Jackson Browne and Dan Fogelberg, to the classic sounds of Eddie Money and Marshal Crenshaw.

Moon was born in Staten Island, New York, but spent the better part of his childhood growing up in Colorado. He began playing music when he was three years old, figuring out songs by ear and playing them on piano. His mother played acoustic guitar and sang songs as a camp counselor in the late sixties. She eventually layed the guitar to rest on the mantel above the fireplace. When Moon was tall enough, he took it down.

The crossroads for Moon came after his senior year of highschool. He could either go to community college in Denver, or Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He chose the latter, and enrolled as a bass player with a primary focus on straight ahead jazz. During that time period, the free jazz of John Coltrane revealed to Moon that music should have no boundaries.

After Boston, Moon moved to Austin, Texas. "I remember walking into a bar on sixth street, and seeing some kids playing the most amazing blues. That''s when I knew I was staying for a while." Moon lived in Austin for a year, and then moved back to Denver to begin working on his first solo release, "More Than I Can Give"(1999).

In 2000, Matthew Moon took his show on the road. The first out of town gig Moon played was at the legendary Zephyr Lounge in Salt Lake City, Utah. Moon continued touring with a devoted group of musicians including Glen Esparza (Little Women, Jerry Joseph), Jeremy Lawton (Big Head Todd and the Monsters), and founding member and cohort, Brad Staats.

Matthew Moon has recently been a featured artist on Frontier Airline''s
"Wild Blue Yonder "in-flight programming (2004), as well as a regular guest on KBCO''S Studio C (Boulder, CO). In August of 2004, Moon traveled to Laguna Beach, California to record with producer/drummer Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow, David Lindley, Stockholm Syndrome). Moon''s new ep will be available through ITUNES and CDbaby in early 2005.

Matthew Moon currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
