Details:
Matthew began playing the piano at the age of four. As a young child, he studied at the Northwestern University Conservatory of Music in his native Chicago. Through the years, as his passion for music grew, he continued his study of the piano with a series of private teachers - classical and popular music.
At U.C.L.A., Matthew minored in music. He studied music theory, film scoring and ethnomusicology. While in college he became interested in world music - music indigenous to different cultures around the world.
Matthew''s original keyboard music has evolved into a blend of classical, folk and world music - a style popularly called "new age" music. His music has been described as transcendental, lyrical, mystical, ethereal, passionate, and romantic.
Discography:
Matt''s long-awaited debut CD, "Dawn of a New Day," was released February 1, 2004. This album is an excellent example of true minimalism with a masterful use of space and sound. "Dawn of a New Day" is solo keyboard with no overdubs or layering. The artist''s original musical compositions cover the new age spectrum from the classically influenced "Dawn of a New Day," and "Canon in G," to the Native American inspired "West of Eden."
Matt''s musical style has been compared to the instrumental
works of artists such as Enya and David Lanz.
