Details:
The conception of Melodious started in the parking lot of the Calvary Baptist Church of Pacoima, CA, where Apostle William T. Broadous, Sr. is the Senior Pastor. The members shared ideas of writing and performing original gospel music. The group started as "Melodious Hearts", later dropping the "Hearts" and is now known simply as "Melodious". The group has been together for five years and in 2004 released their debut self title CD.

The artists that form the gospel group Melodious:

Gwen OWENS (Vocalist)

Born and raised in Detroit, Gwen attended Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, sang in the youth choir and later became a member of Russell Street Baptist Church. She became a professional singer while in her mid-teens and recorded regional successful records for local labels. She had appeared on stage with Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Edwin Starr, Al Green and The Originals before moving to Los Angeles.
After moving to Los Angeles, Gwen worked with Jose Feliciano, Ann Margret, Raquel Welch, Bill Cosby, Ed McMahon, Wolfman Jack , Nancy Sinatra, The Ojays, and Lou Rawls to name a few. She was on Diahann Carroll''s television show, Bill Cosby''s Variety Show as well as background studio recordings for Billy Preston, Al Wilson, Donny Osmond, Wayne Newton, Sammy Davis, Jr., Randy Crawford and many more. She has recorded for Motown Records, Casablanca Records, and Atlantic (Big Tree) Records.
Gwen was invited to the VI Festival Internacional Da Cancão Popular in Rio De Janeiro Brazil as a guest singer, and won the "Best Singer" and "Best Lyricist" award. She also appeared on Brazilian Television. She is a dynamite vocalist as well as a strong lyricist as can be heard from the songs she has written on the albums recorded by her singing group HOT. In 1977 Record World Magazine named HOT Top New Female Group. As lead singer for the popular 70''s group HOT, Gwen received a certified gold record award from RIAA for the groups million selling single "Angel In Your Arms," which was nominated for Song Of The Year on the Billboard #1 award show. She co-starred with the other members of HOT in the movie Running Hot and was a finalist on the TV show "Star Search."
Gwen is currently an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Pacoima, in San Fernando California, the Reverend William T. Broadous, Pastor. She is a member of "The Voices of Calvary" and is also the pianist for Calvary''s Children''s Choir.

Lara MEEKS-WILLIAMS (Vocalist)

Born in Itta Bena, Mississippi, Lara began singing and dancing in talent shows at church and school. She won first place two years straight in high school. In her senior year in High School, she starred in the theatrical play "Curtains Going Up", which launched her acting career. She also participated in the Chorus for a school production at the Ebony Showcase Theatre in Los Angeles.
Lara was a member of Little Zion MBC, the Rev. Jerome Fisher, Pastor, and sang in the choir, while attending Long Beach City college. She was also the female lead vocalist in a secular band "Rapid Transit." The band won first place in a talent show, and soon after recorded a demo single. While a member of "Rapid Transit," Lara had her first experience as a songwriter. Then while singing lead for a vocal trio (that was un-named and included two guys), Lara received an offer for a recording contract, which she declined because of her full time student status at California State University Dominguez Hills, and the contract required a two-year commitment. Also the record contract didn''t include the other members of the trio and Lara didn''t want to go it alone. The trio never performed anywhere but in the living room, but the experience helped Lara to embrace her gift of music.
Lara was a member of the choir for the live recording of Rebecca McCallaugh''s "God is My Strength In Song" album. After college she became a member of the Calvary MBC of Pacoima, Rev. William T. Broadous, Pastor, and was a member of "The Voices of Calvary" choir. She was also a member of the Lakeview Terrace "Voices of Praise" (VOP) gospel group, and participated in a live album recording with the group of original music that never became fruitful. Lara credits the church for allowing her to utilize her gifts in the theater as well. She starred and performed in church productions of: "Highway to Heaven", and "Can''t you see that I have Changed". Both productions allowed her to utilize her vocal and acting talents. Lara also has a Master''s Degree from Azusa Pacific University

Geneva WALKER (Vocalist)
As a child in her hometown of Saginaw, Michigan, Geneva attended Mount Olive Baptist Church on Sundays with her mom, and a sanctified church during the week with her father. She embraced Gospel music when she would sing with her father at church outings. At eight years old, Geneva and her cousin wrote and sang songs for friends and family. She organized a singing and dance group, "Four in Flight," with her brother and two cousins.

At Saginaw High School she had leading roles in the musicals "Fame" and "The Wiz." Geneva was the featured vocalist on the single "Roof Is In The House," on the SHS Choir''s album. (Tone Loc Productions).
