Details:
Mimani Records, an independent label based in Huntsville, AL that was started in April ''98 by C.E.O. and founder CHUX. CHUX who has been writing and composing music for several years decided back in the spring of ''96 to take his music career seriously. Between college, music, and the ups and downs of life his progress started to slow down. But never at a halt, by October ''97 he formed a group The Good Sons, the first group released from the label, which consisted of himself, and best friend J-FIVE, and hometown friend NO. In January 98'' his mom realized how serious he was about music, and gave him her last $2,000 which she had been saving for a fireplace in her home. With that $2,000 CHUX bought a minidisk 4-track recorder, a microphone, studio monitors, a small drum machine, an effects processor, and his girlfriend had a cheap keyboard she let him borrow. For three months he and his girlfriend played around with the equipment trying to figure out how to use it, and by April ''98 CHUX decided to start a business from his apartment, and the group recorded a demo out of the bathroom. The first four months into this venture they were strictly sending out demos to major labels in search of a recording deal. With no response from the demos, CHUX decided to distribute his music himself on a shoestring budget of $750, which he received from a student loan. By November ''98, one month before he received his Bachelor''s Degree from Alabama A & M University, The Good Sons released a five track underground EP, in which they sold over 500 copies. The response from the EP was so great that CHUX decided not to print up any more copies, and record a whole album from his apartments'' bathroom. By March ''99 in less than a year of the companies'' existence they released The Good Sons "Til Death Do Us Part" a 17 track LP. "Til Death Do Us Part" sold over 1,000 units. Six months after the release of the company''s debut album, and still running his company from his apartment CHUX released the group S.U.S.P.E.C.T.S. and their album entitled "Soldier Stories" in September ''99, which consist of his cousin CAPRICE and GLOC a native of Huntsville. Their album went on to sell over 1,800 units. With a growing fan base, little extra money in his pocket, and the determination to make it big in the music industry, CHUX found a small building for rent, and turned it into a studio that he calls the PIGGY BANK. At this point things were going well and CHUX decided that a compilation album should be his next project to showcase a variety of talent that would consist of local artist from Huntsville and his hometown Mobile. So CHUX searched for talent in both cities.
Seven months after the release of the S.U.S.P.E.C.T.S. CHUX released the Mimani Compilation in April ''00 title "Can''t Stop What''s Supposed To Be" which featured every artist on the label. Up until this date the compilation has moved over 3,500 units with the help of the radio friendly single "When We Ride Out" which has been in rotation in local club and skating rinks since it''s release. A year and a half-later Mimani Records released their latest project Dem Mimani Boyz titled "Street Niggaz" in September ''01, which includes a remix of "When We Ride Out." The album features artists from the previous album. "Street Niggaz" is basically a compilation album with a name to it. The album also features a few new artists on the label. "When We Ride Out (remix)" has been a phenomenal hit in local clubs since it’s release. It grabbed a little airtime on local radio station, which is caused album sales to increase at a fast rate. “Street Niggaz” went on to sell over 4,500 and still counting. After a year and a half break of focusing more on the business side, CHUX decided to regroup and narrow his roster down from 12 artist to only 4 (CHUX, LIFE SOULJA, LIL D, KELL). CHUX is ready once again to show the world that he can’t be stopped. Mimani Records and Taloremade Music is set to release their highly anticipated and long-awaited 6th album Dem Mimani Boyz “Pay Day” in March 2004, which features the get crunk singles “Ridin Chrome” and “Bustin Heads”. CHUX plans for this album to give him the recognition that he deserves. With a roster full of talent, a anticipated solo album of his own, and his faith in God, CHUX''s ultimate goal is to expand his fan base regionally, with the hopes that one day his musical talent will captivate the ears of a major label that will offer him a recording or distribution deal that will allow him to stay independent and in control of his own destiny. But until then CHUX will continue to pursue his dream for his company Mimani Records and his artist on his own
