Details:
Lou Gallo has been entertaining children and their parents in and around New York for many years. Lou''s singing and songwriting focus on what is important: home, family, and in his case an assortment of crazy pets he calls friends. You may have seen him singing books over the summer at Bryant Park''s "Word for Word" series, or at Battery Park City''s "Go Fish", or purchased one of his CDs. Subway Train, and Fall Leaves with Brady Rymer, are favorites. "I''m Home" is his newest release.
Babies, toddlers, older kids, parents and grandparents have been known
to find themselves singing, tapping, and dancing along.
An original member of the Imagination Workshop Band, a performance group that grew out of the Children''s Museum of the Arts - Lou has entertained and educated thousands of kids of all ages and abilities. In 2000, Lou was asked to join the music program at the Rockefeller University''s Child and Family Center in New York City, a position formerly held by children''s music superstar, Laurie Berkner. Today Lou is often accompanied by Jean Rohe, a jazz vocalist who studied children''s music at The New School.
Lou is a creative performer who plays to the crowd. If a child wants to sing about her new red shoes, Lou has a song. Often times he will construct a song from ideas that children call out. "I go with the flow and the vibe." He also loves to sing the words of books and can inspire even the quietest children to join in.
And if you really must know, Lou is green. From recycling some of your favorite songs and making them new again to creating honest lyrics
from his own life that are usually very funny.
