Final Iteration is a Christian progressive-rock band that strives for variation in its sound. From the outset, the band made it clear that its goal was to have no two songs sounding alike. So, what does "Asymptotic to Abscissa" mean, anyway? An "asymptote" is a line that approaches a limit, getting closer and closer to it, but never reaching it. Think of fractions. You have 1/2, 1/3, 1/4,..., 1/10, 1/100, 1/1000, and so on, where the number gets closer and closer to zero, but never actually reaches zero. This is an asymptote. "Abscissa" is merely the mathematical word for the x-axis on a graph.
