From San Juan Island, tucked away in the northwest corner of Washington State, comes this talented singer/songwriter with a gentle voice, keen wit, and full heart. This is Schuman’s first solo CD, and the dozen original songs presented here range from counthttps://www.tradebit.com to jazz to blues.
Schuman sings with a vocal style that is unpretentious, inviting the listener to relax and listen to the story. Her writing reflects a wry and honest view of life, while acknowledging the value of humor for just getting through the day.
The CD kicks off with an uptempo tune with a John Hartford feel, “To See You”, that is just plain fun. She is a strong storyteller, shown in “That’s Me In The Middle”, with an acerbic and self-deprecating sense of humor found in “Thank God My Mama Loves Me”. Finding hope when life gets dark is at the heart of “Make Each Prayer Count”. For laughs, check out “Still On The Chain”, a song inspired by a casual remark following a brief family feud.
