Pearlleatha (Pearl) Jackson was born in Beacon, New York and raised in the Dutchess County area. She graduated from Beacon High School and had married her childhood sweetheart William Lee Jackson Sr. Later they soon had two son’s William Lee Jackson Jr. and Kiron Lamarr Jackson. Pearl is also the proud grandparent of Claudia Kionne Jackson.
Pearl began singing as a child as a 3rd generation member of COGIC (Church of God in Christ) under the leadership of her current 1st lady Mother Leatrice Hunt. During that time, she learned valuable training in how to live a Christ like life and singing gospel music which has continued all through out her life. Pearl’s Mother the late Evangelist Bessie Mae Brown use to often get her family members together to encourage their singing and utilize there God given talent in which helped horn her performance capabilities.
Pearl has performed with many in the gospel arena, her first group was the Pearson Singers managed by Elder Jethro Pearson and they performed on stage along with Gospel legend Pastor Shirley Caesar in North Carolina. She also sang and performed with the Gospel Supreme Tones of Quality for four years. Her experience and talents soon after lead her to Vice President and then President of the Bethel COGIC choir in Poughkeepsie, New York. Pearl has also for many years part taken in the Mid Hudson Chapter of the Gospel music workshop of America under the leadership and founder of the late great Rev. James Cleveland.
At this point of her life, she feels led by God to go out on her own and share Gods love through song and praise. Pearl began writing her 1st song “You must believe”, after she connected with Praise and Worship leader Rev. Arnrai (Ray) Banks who assisted her with laying out her musical ideas for that song. Kenny Palmer aided her with additional vocal arrangement, development and rough draft recording the song. She also connected with World renowned Percussionist Jeff Haynes in which at his studio performed and recorded the interlude song “Wade in the Water”. Pearl really enjoyed that session especially since she was able to record her favorite instrument that she mastered which is the tambourine.
Soon after, Kenny introduced her to multi talented, master song writer, producer, musician and vocalist Billy Dubose. With Billy she has been able to construct, write and produce her entire album further allowing God’s vision for her life to start. The saga continues…
