"the deepest, darkest, most delicious voice.."
Martin Sexton/Recording Artist

Marsia Shuron Harris has a unique presence and musical style. Her voice is penetrating and not easily forgotten. Sheryl Hunter columnist for The Greenfield Recorder says, "She has a beautiful, soulful voice, that is the perfect instrument for the blend of soul, rock and folk music she creates." This unique blend sets her apart from the normal singer/songwriter fare.

Marsia debuted with a seven-piece band at the Hatch Shell on the Boston Esplanade and was immediately welcomed into Boston''s active acoustic music scene. A self-taught musician, Marsia honed her skills while performing on the streets of Harvard Square and at local clubs and coffeehouses. WERS''s Stephanie Mulica deemed her "one to Watch." In 1993 Marsia joined forces with fellow singer/songwriter Adrienne and formed the duo Aye. (See https://www.tradebit.com The two garnered rave reviews and released their well received cd "Sweet Life," before disbanding in 2002. Marsia has performed solo and with Aye at numerous venues throughout the Northeast. Places such as the Bitter End, The Middle East Cafe, Club Passim, Karma Club, Iron Horse Music Hall, Club Metronome and Higher Ground to name a few. She has also showcased at NACA and performed at Colleges and Festivals. Opening for recording artists such as Me''shell Ndegeocello, Martin Sexton, Jeffrey Gaines,Vance Gilbert and others, has only fueled her already powerful stage presence.

In July 2004, Marsia introduced her new band Mother Turtle, a Soulful combo with varying influences. Songwriter and front woman, Marsia Shuron, brings her special blend of Soul and Rock to the band, while "Santana-esque" guitarist, Atticus Robbins; brings a unique mix of Latin, Reggae and Rock. Percussionist Ade Bayo (a.k.a. Buster B.) is an African hand drummer from the Bamidele Dance and Drum Troupe. Mother Turtle showcases his skill at the trap kit, where the beats are always danceable, even on a slow tune. On Bass is "Symphonic Metal" Composer, Adam Bergeron, who keeps the groove solid and driving. Each member of Mother Turtle offers something very different. The combination is an inspiring stew of music that hints at something old while "courting" something new. The band is receiving great feedback on the new cd.

Whether with the band or armed only with her voice and guitar, Marsia is a talent worth checking out. She has sung on a variety of recording projects including an interactive theatre exhibit, produced by Peace River Films and has co-written songs for a national curriculum program entitled "Staying out of the Risky Zone." Featured in a recent score by film composer Ruth Mendelson, Marsia''s voice can be heard as part of a nationally touring exhibit, currently on display at the New England Aquarium in Boston. She is a two time Lilith Fair finalist, whose songs range from soulful ballads to groove laden rock-n-roll. An engaging performer, Boston Women''s Voice says, "on stage she''s magic."
