Details:
The release of ‘Midnight ‘til Noon’ follows Dónal Donohoe’s return to Ireland from Copenhagen where he spent many years making a name for himself on the Danish circuit.

Having picked up a guitar at an early age, Dónal adopted the sounds and feelings of folk, blues, rock, Latin and jazz and put them into a melting pot of what is now his own unique style. Dónal started playing in clubs and venues around Dublin before travelling around Europe and settling in Denmark.

Dónal''s unique guitar technique was spotted by Tom O''Brannigan, 98FM, Dublin, Ireland "...it''s nice to hear a singer, singer-songwriter who can actually play the guitar..."

Sarah McQuaid of The Evening Herald, Dublin, Ireland used the expression “pleasantly mesmerising” in her review of the album and went on to point out that Dónal ”...also shares Nick (sic) Drake’s habit of building a song around a hypnotic guitar riff” making the album good for “post-club chilling or the stressed out commuter’s dawn battle…”.

While in Denmark Dónal played both solo and with bands including supports with piano player Diz "The Honey Bear" Watson, the Ron Kavana Band and and Jan Toftlund Band. Dónal had the unusual honour of playing for the captive audience of The Danish State Prison and appeared on Danish television.

The musicians who play on ‘Midnight ‘til Noon’ are second to none. All of whom Dónal hooked up with while in Copenhagen. Tony Uter began playing in ska, R&B and jazz bands in Jamaica in the 1950’s and has played with Edmondo Ross, Toots and the Maytals, Price Buster and the All Stars to name a few.

Jeffrey Daniel Jensen from the U.S.A. has a variety of styles to his drumming, blues, funk, rock and is master of the Irish bodhrán. Jeff has played with bands on both sides of the Atlantic and has worked as a producer on various projects.

Bass playing on ‘Midnight ‘til Noon’ comes from Christian Dawids from Denmark. Christian has played with many high profile acts on the Danish music scene including
Elvis Ellington & His Lazy Latin Lover, Horny Hank & His Honky Handyman – Men and Nikolaj Christensen.

The combination of these musicians and Dónal’s passion and gifted song writing abilities make ‘Midnight ‘til Noon’ what it is, an album untainted, letting each track live together in what has become their natural surroundings. This inspired Jackie Hayden from Hot Press, Ireland to say that Donal "...manages to create a sound that sets him apart from the herd...His excellent finger-style acoustic guitar has echoes of Davy Graham...Donohoe has opened his account with distinction...SEVEN / TEN"
