Music that won’t make you want to throw your kid’s CD out the car window.

Einstein’s Monkey (EM) writes music for the parents of their generation who have similar musical tastes and backgrounds. EM musicians B Bagby and Jeff Hofmann were raised on pop, funk, world beat, and punk.

Although EM admires the success of groups that have written overly simple, and repetitive “music” for children, they couldn''t feel comfortable writing music like that. B and Jeff are parents and are of the MTV generation (back when they played music videos) and wanted to write songs that have music that is interesting to listen to and expresses their many influences without pandering to the younger listeners.

B and Jeff were in a band together in the late 80''s/early 90''s and have performed in many diverse groups (over 30 albums and 5 stage musicals between them). When they formed EM in 2003, they wanted to bring those styles of musicianship into the music with them. The lyrics have a sarcastic humor for the kids and their parents, occurring on several levels like many of best cartoons and family movies.

EM has been performing educational programs in libraries and schools since 2003, honing their skills of entertaining kids, while not driving the parents out of the room! Having heard many parents ask for a recording they could have with them all the time, EM finally relented and created their new album “banana yellow”.

The latest album "banana yellow" draws obvious parallels with musicians such as Brian Setzer, Johnny Cash, The Cars, Nirvana, The Clash, The Ramones, and Peter Gabriel.
