A Good Sign is the first release by Velvet Greene, the band built around frontman Dave Rogel''s "Full-Range Guitar", a unique instrument that is half guitar, half bass. The album features a diverse range of sounds from the earthy (A Good Sign, Falling Star) to the electronic (The Sounds, Seven, Pianoramic) and everything in between. The arrangements are well thought-out without being overdone, and the album as a whole retains a natural feel, even in the instrumental quasi-hip-hop of Pianoramic. A truly enjoyable first effort from an instrumentally innovative, musically multi-faceted, and lyrically straightforward band.
