7 is alot of things actually. The main thing obviously is the music. Throughout all of my experiences with music and life in general I find that music is a powerful art form. It evokes emotions, creates feelings, it''s everywere. There''s so many differnt kinds, it''s been around forever, I couldn''t imagine a world without music. That''s why I love it so much, it''s something, yet it''s nothing. Sound waves, you can''t see it but you can feel it. My mother is blind, she raised me to "see" with my heart and not with my eyes. So growing up I always "saw" things a little differently than others. I personaly like all kinds of music and play alot of insturments, but what always captivated me was the guitar. I remember when I was little hearing Zakk Wylde and Randy Rhodes on old Ozzy songs in my uncles car, he and I watched Heavy Metal alot, we''d play tapes of everyone from Pink Floyd to Iron Maiden it was powerful, loud, yet beautiful. My mom would play everything from country to mariachi''s, my sister was always into whatever was hot at the time (New Kids on the Block), but always liked the oldies. I heard it all growing up, so I grew as a musician to play it all, or at least whatever felt good. I think the biggest reason why most of the bands I tried to start or join never worked was becuase everybody wanted to stick to one thing. Metal, death metal, christian rock, blues, nu metal, so on and so forth. So rather than trying to force everyone to go for a industrial christian death nu blues metal electronica insturmental guitar band, I decided to go solo and play whatever comes to mind. (That would have been an interesting mix though.) The result of which is "Ascension in Descension", of course I plan on 7 growing with more members, not that it wasn''t fun but high-fiving yourself and getting wasted and trashing hotel rooms on your own gets a little lonely. I''m asked alot things like what are you trying to put out there? What messages are you conveying to listeners? What kind of music do you play? What style of guitar do you play? Never an easy question for me. I suppose if I knew the answer I''d be doing it and wouldn''t get asked. And at the risk of sounding like an idiot who doesn''t know what he''s doing, I say instumental. BORING! Okay, hows about industrial christian death nu blues metal electronica insturmental guitar band? For sanity sake I do say instrumental rock/metal or even industrial, had to when I started putting cd''s out for sale. But messages? Buy my album that''s the message. I know everyones take on a song or artist can be different. I wrote "sexy", and named it that because I felt that the guitar sounded...sexy. A few listeners and fans were like "yea that song reminds of this one girl..." or "Oh I''d love to get down to that at the club...". Other didn''t get it at all. But since I have yet to write music with lyrics, there''s no message other than the underlaying emotion I try to evoke or invoke to a listener. Therein lays a major aspect of 7, aside from the music. I try to implement a visual aspect to the music that is used both metaphorically & fictitiously to illustrate an emotion, action, or situation that one may experience from a song or perhaps encounter in real life. Example, I''ve written a song (desctructionist), for the next album. Hearing it one may think or feel a myriad of things, or nothing at all. The visual medium (music video or short comic story) will be a fictional character staging a war to establish a "right" way to live in some make beleive world. People may see it as a parallel to America''s war on terror and democracy in the Middle East, the crusades and other real events. Others may see it as a religious metaphor, other''s may not see it as anything other than a fictional storyline with a musical score. Every song will be different, every album different as far as visuals are concered, how they will be performed is a whole different animal. Some songs, I just make for no reason in particular. I mean, don''t get me wrong I love getting all fruity hippy with my music, but sometimes it comes down to shredding and headbanging. 7, a solo project, a band, a chorus for a story, alot of things. I''m sure not everbody will buy into everything, some may love every aspect of 7 as much as me, so long as the music is good 7 will continue to grow and evolve as time goes on. Me being the guitarist and everything hopes that everyone loves the music and shares some sort of enthusiasm for everything that goes along with it, I have my own personal philosophies and choice of lifestlye that is expressed alot in all aspects of 7, but I''m not trying to change anyone''s life, I figure at best I may inspire others to do great things, to possibly enjoy life a little but more. Open those minds a little bit, maybe get you out of that prison you call your life for a bit and come rock out with me. Because in the end, there is no end.
