The CD liner notes tell the whole story...

December 16, 2006: My exhausted wife Teresa and I welcome our first child, Eryk Riordan Baranowski, into the world, and I become a new man. Miraculously, the worldly things I''d always thought to be so important suddenly become insignificant... My respect for life – new life, especially – blossoms infinitely... My short temper does a 360, along with my equally short level of patience... My beliefs and manner of speaking begin to graduate to a higher level... and my creative endeavors and interests gradually shift from dark and exploitative to light, positive and poignant.
People always told me I was wasting my God-given talents before this fateful day. Musically, my prior compositions reveled in leaving an audience heavy-hearted and sorrowful, while my visual output no doubt induced little more than titillating, sinful thoughts and unhealthy fantasies. Certainly, there''s an audience for such material, and I don''t regret or apologize for catering to it. However, as human beings, we all need to grow – to evolve – and this body of work is best left in my past. I''ve gotten it out of my system, and I wish to move on to bigger, better, and more meaningful things... for Eryk''s sake, at the very least.
Which brings me to this album. ALL THE COLORS OF LOVE is the first materialization of my "rebirth," and it''s without question my finest hour (if I may be so bold). I hope both you and your children will agree... To enhance your listening experience, here are a few additional thoughts to accompany each song:

LEROY''S TOY – My first written piece of children''s material, and still the favorite of everyone I know. It''s a fun little tune that helps a child realize it''s not the end of the world when their favorite thing goes away. Sooner or later, there''ll be something else just as special to replace it...

SIPPY CUP – Something about the words "sippy cup" has always made me laugh, so I had to write a song about it. Watching Eryk toddle around with his made this one a cinch to compose...

MAILMAN – Written for a more intermediate age group, this light-hearted number stems from my own anxiousness to get the mail every day. For day care teachers, I''d suggest utilizing it on Theme Day, or whenever your lesson includes various professions...

MORE FLOOR THAN BEFORE – Whether at home or in the classroom, here''s what I consider the perfect motivational song for your little one(s)...

AT A PARTY – Whether good or bad, the imaginations of children are unbridled. Because bedtime ("lights out") can be scary, this song is meant to send them to a brighter and safer place until the sandman comes... Oops, that sounds kind of scary, too!

TROTSKY – I can''t take all the credit for the title of this one. I work with a great guy named Trotsky, who may or may not be flattered that I named a song about a baby pony after him. In any case, I wanted to create a potential cartoon character for a kids'' show that even I wouldn''t tire of watching...

AND THEN ONE DAY – A fairy tale based on my own relationship with Teresa, Eryk''s birth, and my wishes for the future...

SHARE – A simple, straightforward and fun sing-along, meant to teach as the child tries to keep up with the quickening tempo...

WE''RE ALL THE SAME – Another one I had no problem writing while admiring a sleeping Eryk, I tried to avoid making it too personal by also addressing a girl. I can''t stress enough the importance of boosting a child''s self-confidence... Hopefully, this song will help.

THE BOOGIE DOWN – The obligatory dance number... Teachers, this one''s for you! Although pretty self-explanatory, I envision the class standing in a circle, hand-in-hand, as the song gets underway. From there, anything goes! Start your day with this one!!!

ALL THE COLORS OF LOVE – My way of addressing the physical and cultural differences between people, in order to assist a child''s understanding and acceptance of them

GOODNIGHT, MY CHILD – The "sleepy time" song of the album, and my most personal. I still can''t get through this one without shedding a tear...
