Ernie Martinez was playing the guitar on his front porch when all the other kids on the block were playing "Kick-the-Can". By the time he did his four year hitch in the Navy, he was already a journeyman on his Gibson guitar. The time at sea gave him the opportunity to reflect, write songs, and develop a style. After getting out, he studied at Cal State University,L.A. as a music major, which gave him the ability to use a full pallet of chord stuctures that would make his style unique. During this period he wrote many songs, but professionally remained a loner, with an occasional jam that would impress even seasoned veterans like Los Lobos (they played at his friend Pancho''s wedding). After moving to Temecula, he agreed to take on a music publishing agent, Sam Solomon,who was able to copyright 29 of his over forty songs, and produce his first album. Some of his tunes are soulful love ballads, some with Jazz and Latin rythmn elements, some even crafted with an edge of protest. Every future CD will have at least one instrumental on it. A new second CD is being worked on with up to eleven great songs. He performs locally in Temecula, and occasionally in L.A.
