At the age of nineteen,Mushy was given his first guitar, a classical nylon string - by his friend Karen. He spent about six months learning how to make chords. Mushy then began to try to learn some Beatle songs. It didn''t take long before boredom with other peoples music made him immediately begin to write his own songs. He wrote some very bad songs. Refusing to give up, he spent the next twenty-five years focused on the inspired moments that gave him a collection of songs he plays regularly in the subways of New York City.
