This new cd was recorded in St. Louis in August 2008 with Huey (Pop, Lock, and Drop, Jive Records) and Silas Da Kid (signed to Atlantic Records). It is just the right sound to be played through your car''s speakers; a big beat.
Born in Toledo, Ohio in 1986, J Billz is currently writing and producing his own music. His sound is a mixture of Rap, Rock, and R. & B.
J Billz has always enjoyed music. He grew up in a home filled with musical textures from classical to Motown, from Jazz to R. & B., from gospel to rock. J Billz''s father is a jazz drummer and his mother is blessed with beautiful vocals. He has other family members who have performed professionally.
At the age of 7, J Billz studied piano in the Suzuki method and charmed the local community at his recitals. He took up drumming at the age of 10, but by age 12 decided he enjoyed vocals more. J Billz has a good hear for harmony and tone quality, as displayed when singing movie scores in duet with his mother. Around the same time he began listening to L. L. Cool J, MC Hammer, Run DMC and a host of others; thus beginning his life interest with Hip-Hop.
J Billz has little difficulty crossing over genre lines, because his music has been and is accepted by a great diversity of audiences. He is creating a sound that many say is "refreshing" for Rap; and we know how hard that can be. A listener was quoted saying "he has a little old school and dirty south" (L.C., 2007).
J Billz is currently working on his college radio tour across the mid-west. Students are getting the opportunity to hear for themselves his influence on Hip-Hop. The radio responses have been favorable, getting as many as 3 to 5 song request per hour. J Billz feels the studio interviews are a fun way for his audiences to meet him. He is also getting air-play around the country on internet radio.
So turn on and tune in for his "stay fitted and custom made" opening act.
