My interest and love for the piano and writing music came at a very early age. At three years old, my parents have a picture of me sitting at the piano….from that point on, my love affair with the ivories have continued for 26 years, even up to the present time. While I don’t remember playing piano that early, I do remember the love and push my parents gave me while growing up. They both knew God have gifted me with a talent that could truly be used in a tremendous way. Working alongside my father and mother in the ministry here at our home church, has proved to be extremely rewarding and challenging.
I was born into the happy home of Pastor and Mrs. Kenneth Walters. My parents instilled a love and desire for Godly music in our home. It doesn’t just happen, that love and desire for good music must be cultivated and taught. The constant gentle urging and push from my parents has brought me to this point in my life. I am honored at the way God has used this music in my own life, but also in the hearts and lives of many others.
At twenty two I married the man God put in my life, Charles Tyree. Charlie has been and continues to be a tremendous support and help in this ministry of music. He happily accepted me….and my love affair with the piano, and together with the Lord’s help, we have built a home for our children based on the principles of good music that was taught early on as a child. The Lord has given us two beautiful children, our daughter, Charli Rene’, and son, Luke Tyree, are indeed the sunshine in our lives. We have tried to pass on Godly principles of good music to our children for their own future.
My husband has suffered with chronic migraines since the age of eleven. As he became older, the headaches increased with such intensity that he can no longer work full time at only 38 years old. Needless to say, this situation has NEVER taken God by surprise. He knew from the very start. Had it not been for these difficult days that we have faced together; most of the songs on this CD would never have been written.
Maybe it seems funny to say, I’m thankful for the hard days! They have taught my husband and me to rely on and have a genuine trust in our God. I’m constantly reminded that every day is a new and beautiful gift from God. He blesses us daily with a fresh start and gives us new mercies and compassions to draw from. To realize the depth of this wonderful truth helps me to stay focused even when things become very difficult.
Music (every type) touches the heart and soul in some way. Most music touches the emotions and can make you “feel” good. Godly music will touch the heart AND stir the soul. At different times God allows the twists and turns of life to mold and make us who we really are, spiritually speaking. We have one of two choices. We can trust God for the outcome, no matter what…or we can trust ourselves and fail miserably.
Each song on my CD, The Anchor, is different and was written for various reasons. Yet, they all still point to one source of focus and answer, Jesus Christ!
