Nova began her formal vocal education at the age of seven years old, and added the study of piano at tweleve years old. She continued studying both instruments throughout high school and college, and during her summers studied clasical voice at the University of California at Santa Barbara Summer Vocal Institute, and jazz voice at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA.
Nova graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA, with a BA in voice with a theory/compostition emphasis, and a double major in recording arts pending. After college, Nova pursued her interest in the recording process by assisting on an album with Elton John producer, Greg Penny. She continued her technical studies at Larrabee Sound Studios in Los Angeles, where she assisted such artists as Madonna, Snoop Dog, Tool, etc. In 1999 Nova produced her own live recorded CD, from her vocal performance entitiled, "A Night with Nova," which includes a compilation of ballads, country and blues tunes. In 2002, Nova collaborated with Daniel Ash of "Bauhaus" and "Love and Rockets" fame, on his new solo, self-entitled album. Nova is featured on two tracks on the album, one of which she co-wrote.
Nova in currently continuing to teach, perform, and record. Her newest CD, "Summer Moon," a collection of jazz favorites from the 1930''s to present day compositions is available now.
