Details:
A veteran of stage, television, film and voice work, TONY JAY has pursued his career all over the world.
A former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company of Great Britain, he has performed in the theatre on Broadway and in London''s West End, playing mainly classic roles in Shaw, Shakespeare and Chekhov. His stage career reached its zenith in 1985 when he played the lawyer, Jaggers, in an Old Vic presentation of ''Great Expectations'', which he followed up in 1986 with the role of Crummles in the Royal Shakespeare Company''s landmark production of ''Nicholas Nickleby'', seen in Los Angles, Broadway and Stratford-on-Avon.
His film work includes appearances with Arnold Schwartzenegger, Danny de Vito, Woody Allen, Karl Malden, Kim Basinger, Dan Ayckroyd, to name a few.
His television performances are too numerous to mention totally, but some of his most memorable roles include ''Beauty and the Beast'', ''Golden Girls'', ''Murphy Brown'', ''Hunter'', ''Newhart'', ''Night Court'', ''Star Trek'', ''Lois & Clark''and ''Sisters''.
Tony has a remarkable career in voice acting too, being heard in literally hundreds of TV and radio commercials and in many animated series and full-length features, such as ''Mighty Max'', ''Bruno the Kid'', ''Tale Spin'', ''Savage Dragon'', ''Beauty and the Beast'', ''The Hunchback of Notre Dame''in which he portrayed the villainous Judge Frollo, which has been called "the best Disney villain to date".
He also portrays Shere Khan in ''Jungle Book 2''.
Tony Jay....Speaking Of Broadway is his first solo recording and reveals his passion for the Broadway musical as it once was. Musically, he has been experimenting with multi-track recordings for a number of years, using electronic samples; the result produces the effect you hear on this album of a large concert orchestra which serves as a musical backdrop for the spoken word.
Everything you hear on this recording - the arrangements, the playing and the spoken word - are entirely the work of Tony Jay, at one and the same time the man and the artist.
