MP3 Octothorpe - Information Overload

High-energy first offering explores styles from rock to rap with bizarre, disturbing results.

22 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Jam-band, POP: Quirky

Details:
This CD represents 20 consecutive weeks of entries by Octothorpe into the songwriting competition at https://www.tradebit.com, plus two covers of other songfight artists'' entries. Accompanying the CD is a 28-page booklet containing not only the lyrics, credits, and graphics for each song, but the colorful running commentary from the songfight boards that these entries generated. Ranging from such comments as "I hope you guys eat a cheese wheel and choke on it" for one the first Octothorpe recordings to the highlights excerpted below, the booklet is as entertaining as the music.

Lyrics by Stubs (Aaron Ondek)
Music by Spud (Ray C. Freeman III)
Vocals by Bro (John X. Ambrosavage)

mc3p0:
Sometimes there''s so much beauty in the world I feel like I can''t take it, like my heart''s going to cave in. But then I''m startled awake, realizing I had fallen asleep to Information Overload on repeat. KHAN!! khan! kha.. k..

NationwideClyde:
Is there a video of this? At last you break out the accordion! At least you had fun! (I know you guys have some serious analogue equipment. Maybe next time?) Sounds like you had girls over. I wish I had girls come over. I wish I had friends. Octothorpe has friends. Lovely, lovely friends. If you tape-recorded this on micro cassette, hats off to you! Sounds like Guy Smiley on acid.

Marcelo (Skyline):
Everything you make makes me smile like a geeky li''l kid. I wish I could be this original with my own work. You truly have a gift to visualize and think outside the box. I really like it.

Too Fat (That''s The Spirit):
You make me laugh. I like to laugh. I was, in fact saying, "It''s ''Spirit'', dude" when the pause in the middle kicked in. I almost squirted my kool-aid through my nose.

Mekkab (Highway):
I often enjoy octothorpe on the radio! Good shift in vocal delivery at 1:00 (right by the route 99 sign sliding to a stop...) This is a great lesson on WHY you should not commit any acts of thermoplastic pollution! Nice- highway is a scarf on the hilltop! Even the rats aren''t fed! 2:58- NICE organ solo! Either my brain has been re-programmed to accept all orders from Octothorpe, or I''ve found Octo''s groove and dig it, or this is just a really good song.

Wannabe (Tiny Room):
I must say that #''s stuff is growing on me. especially this week''s song. the irony of Mr. Squirrel being quarantined while all of his friends are out playing and bouncing around the hill reminds me of a children''s book gone awry, which makes me believe more and more in a friend who said that #''s stuff sounded like mock children''s music for intelligent people.
