Album Reviews:

"This mostly low-key release runs very much in the vein of Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley or Elbow, leaving behind the pop idiom and moving into a place altogether darker." BBC WALES MUSIC

"The sounds of darkness and damaged relationships permeate almost every song, which sometimes recall the dynamics and drama of both Muse and Radiohead." BUZZ

"Their brand of introspective lyrics, falsetto vocals, and distorted guitars should make waves amongst lapsed Radiohead fans looking for angsty rock of a straight-ahead, song-based nature. SOUND NATION

"Lyrically impressive, this album sparkles with a verve for the otherworldly - think the Eels meets the Longpigs and you''re halfway there." DECODE

Old Garbo are a Welsh band based in Newport in the south of the country. The same city that gave birth to Flyscreen, Dub War, The 60ft Dolls, Novocaine and Goldie Lookin'' Chain.

Previously the brothers, who make up Old Garbo, were members of The Wild Family. As part of that band the brothers supported (or have been supported by) some great bands like Gun, 3 Colours Red and Jellyfish and released a single "Sadly Lookalike" which can still be found round and about. Their debut album "Naked Invention" was never officially released but nevertheless there are a few copies of that floating about somewhere for those eager to track it down - David Bowie fans might be especially interested in an obsure cover on the album called "Looking for a Friend". The album was recorded in 1995 and was produced by Mark Dearnley who has produced or engineered on albums for AC/DC, Dog''s D''Amour, Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul McCartney.

In between bands I''ve also been a guitar technician for Flyscreen who were signed to Universal and, amongst other CDs, released "Girls Can''t Make Gun Noises". Together we toured the United Kingdom with bands such as Bush and No Doubt.

On our official Old Garbo website there''s a video that I directed myself for the track "Like Nothing". Inspired by people like the great Spike Jonze. I spent a few months trying to come up with a simple, achievable idea that would look good when shot with a regular domestic DV camcorder - go take a look.

Even though we''ve only just released this album we''re already working on the follow-up. There''s no working title yet for the album but we have the tracklisting chosen and all the basic tracks down. As we continue to promote "Walking on all Flaws" live we''ll continue to finalise the CD and hope to have something new for you to listen to in 2006. In the meantime enjoy "Walking on all Flaws".

Thanks for listening,
Russell
