There''s a lot to be said for economy in music, for cutting out all but the essentials and presenting what''s left like gems on black velvet.
That''s NOT what Ozone Player is about. Oh heavens no.
Dive into this, my latest record, as if it were an eye-chart of infinitely deepening Es. The big E is the overall shape of the record: the main musical ideas, the melodic hooks. Then the smaller Es: the unusual sounds, the moments of humor, the textures, rhythms, harmonies. Down, down you go, as the Es become smaller and smaller but no less involving, into the tiny variations in timbre, de tunings, pitch bends, burps and beeps, perhaps even (shock horror!) a mistake or two.
