Paisty Jenny''s (PJ) debut release DETOURS winds up a dose of angst and gives adult rock a fat lip. These Midwest rockers may have found a way to bridge the gap between growing up and getting on.

Two tracks "Anymore" and "Comfortable" from the studio demo have already received a considerable amount of airplay on area radio stations, including several live acoustic performances.

Formed during the late spring of 2002, this foursome has been banging out its'' own flavor of straight-at-ya modern rock that has been enthusiastically received by audiences from 15 to 40 in the Lincoln and Omaha markets.

PJ''s fans have been anxiously waiting for the aptly named DETOURS release to hit store shelves while the band took a seven-month break struggling with lineup, producer and studio issues.

Primary songwriter Gregg Lee''s (lead vocals, guitars) third release on Direct Hit Records has interwoven thick guitar riffs, catchy hooks and lyrics that explore life from the cradle to the grave. Trying to steer clear of today''s typical modern rock tricks, an honest and very direct approach brings guitar-driven flavor and frustration-ridden lyrics together in a powerful combination.

Lee''s vocals contain a very unique and marketable timbre without being over-produced. He punches out a clean yet emotional growl, and a sometimes factious look at life. Lee commented, "I hate studio tricks and prefer a very honest approach to my sound - take it or leave it, it''s who I am."

Making up the rhythm section, are Troy Stevens (bass) and Lance Sterling (drums). These two forces bring together a mix of attitudes and musical influences. Stevens has a preference for rhythms that move people to shake the sweat out of their hair while Sterling has a pension for more progressive drum styles. The push and pull between the two brings a unique feel to the Paisty sound.

The latest addition to the lineup is Jonny Ray (lead guitar) who knows how to lay back in the right place or tear up the guitar neck in a salute to a time when sizzling guitar leads ruled. While Ray doesn''t appear on the disc, he is bringing a new fire to PJ''s live show.

Any mention of Paisty Jenny''s music deserves commentary on the Paisty live experience. Their show contains array of originals that sweep the audience back and forth through an emotional frenzy. PJ is not afraid to pound out a high-energy show and then lay some sweet emotion on the line a just the right time. Audiences pay close attention because singer Lee often ends up standing on bar tables splashing sweat on the crowd, and from the arena size stages the foursome captivates crowds with a larger-than-life expression.
