The El Paso born bassist/vocalist, songwriter now lives in Austin, Texas, but has cut his teeth learning his craft all over the world, most recently living in Houston''s sweltering Gulf Coast Blues scene for 12 years.
While in Houston, Kenny tenured with the likes of Houston''s top dog, Tony Vega and with Houston''s Harp master, Sonny Boy Terry, and played bass for many others.
Kenny fronted his 1st blues combo in 1999, releasing a 6 song EP of original music in December called, "Louisiana Hot Sauce."
While performing an average of 7 times a week, in 2000 and 2001, Kenny managed to record a live CD, called "Texas Born." This was a limited release and is now out of print.
Meanwhile Kenny''s skills are developing always writing new songs, and pushing his voice to betterment. At his best to date, Kenny has recorded his first studio CD, called "The Real Thing."
A dazzling jazzy, Texas & New Orleans/Gulf Coast blues and R&B CD of original arrangements featuring Sonny Boy Terry''s harp, and Scott Smith''s guitar.
Also on the CD are Teja and Luke, an acoustic
blues duo also found on https://www.tradebit.com.
Teja and Luke play harp and guitar on the title track.
This CD features Kenny''s talented songwriting,
fretless bass playing, acoustic and electric rhythem guitar playing, and his versatile bi-lingual vocal abilities.
If you love the blues, if you love that gulf coast sound,
this is your CD. The sounds on this CD, tip the hat
to Texas legends like Albert Collins, Juke Boy Bonner,and
Johnny Winter, with the layering of piano, that New Orleans/Louisiana flavor by Houston native,Chaz Nadege.
There are ballads, rumbas, swingbeats, a Bo Diddley beat and the title track with its acoustic/harp ballad sound.
Kenny''s latin roots bleed thru with the flavorful
addition of congas, bongos and other percussion.
While recorded on a tight budget, the effort is honest,
strong and creative.
