A Short Biography

Kevin Palmer and Ashley Riner met in 1995 in Swainsboro, Georgia through a mutual friend; Ashley''s wife and Kevin''s college buddy. The first time they ever played together was on the stage at a local bar in rural South Georgia. As the crowd grew and the hours passed they began to realize, rather quickly, that they fit together perfectly. Over the next few years they gigged regularly in dozens of bars throughout Georgia as a duo with two acoustic guitars and both sharing lead vocals. They began to gather a rather large selection of covers and their following gradually grew. They eventually took over as the house band at Coleman''s Lake Bar. It was in that moderate sized and smoky bar in the swamp, with its leather couch''s and walk-in humidor, that they really started to develop their own southern style. Through the years that followed, they opened for artists as varied as Doug Stone, The Temptations and Widespread Panic as they wondered through their home territory on various tours. It wasn''t long before they began to grow restless with the James Taylor, Bob Dylan and Violent Femmes covers and started to write what would become "Mill Creek Road".

With the help of local Dublin producer Derrick Hampton, they started laying down the basic tracks for the c.d. in his home studio. With everyone involved working full time during the day and keeping things warm at home, they were able to record three hours a night, two nights a week, for three months. With Kevin providing rhythm guitar, lead vocals and backing vocals and Ashley playing lead and rhythm guitar, lead vocals, backing vocals, banjo and mandolin they started developing the album. They called in friends to play Hammond organ, electric guitar, drums, slide etc. and Derrick Hampton laid down the bass guitar, piano and keyboard. Shortly after its release, "Mill Creek Road" began to get airplay on radio stations between Savannah and Macon Georgia.

Influences:

Kevin- Bob Dylan (40 of his 600+ c.d.''s are Dylan), Tom Waits, Kris Kristofferson, Leonard Cohen, Jackson Browne, Indigo Girls, Willie Nelson, John Prine, Neil Young, Steve Earle and on and on and on.........

Ashley-James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Browne etc.
