MP3 Paul Evans - Losing Time

Guitar driven melodic instrumental hard rock

8 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Instrumental Rock, ROCK: Hard Rock

Details:
Paul started playing guitar at the age of 15, fueled by a love of Led Zeppelin and the opportunity to play guitar in a high school stage band. He quickly became obsessed by the instrument, practicing for many hours every day. After a few valuable lessons that taught some basic theory and modes, he discovered Randy Rhoads and Alex Lifeson, and began learning songs and solos by ear and joined up with some friends to start playing covers by Rush, Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, and other early 80''s hard rock acts. By the time Paul started college in 1983, Yngwie Malmsteen had caught his ear, and he began learning more exotic modes like harmonic minor and of course, focused on developing his speed. Paul was lucky enough to attend the University of Miami, and while not in the music program, his dorm room was surrounded by those of fantastic musicians, including one Andy Timmons. Paul played in a few different cover bands during this period, but eventually began focusing more on original music.

Fast forward 4 years, to a sagging post-college job market in South Florida and an opportunity to move to Los Angeles with longtime bandmate Richard Reid. Paul and Rich took the move, and eventually formed a band named Hard Luck. Constant rehearsals yielded demo tapes and some great gigs on the Strip, but the band hit its stride just in time to see the rise of grunge rock dispell any chances of getting signed. After contributing some guitar work to former bandmate Jerry Fiene''s solo project, Paul gradually drifted away from playing guitar, always wishing he had been able to record a final product that showcased the skills his many years of playing had yielded.

Eventually, the home recording revolution came about, giving Paul an avenue to create something beyond a demo tape to have as a legacy of his playing. This inspired Paul to pick up the guitar and play off the rust while crafting new songs and honing his recording skills.

And this brings us to Losing Time - Paul''s entirely self produced instrumental debut. Driven by passionate, fiery guitar work, the album features soaring melodies and driving rhythms, recalling the playing of Neal Schon, Steve Lukather, and Dan Huff. If you are a fan of guitar music, give it a listen, and you''ll be hooked.
