Peter Calandra is a New York City-based composer and keyboard player. He has scored 8 movies including: Jellysmoke (Winner 2005 Los Angeles Film Festival), Unknown Soldier (2004 CL Productions feature film, Winner 2004 Los Angeles and Philadelphia Film Festivals, Nominee 2005 Independent Spirit Award), Union (2004 Starcircle Productions Short Film) Down At The Tracks (2003 independent feature film), 13th Child: Legend Of The Jersey Devil (2002 Painted Zebra Productions), Between 2 Worlds (2002 independent short film, CMJ and Globalfest 2002 selection).
He has written over 800 compositions for television including the theme music for I,MAX, The Sports List, Poker 101, Closing Themes for FOX Boxing and FOX Championship Poker all on the Fox Sports Net. He currently arranges and composes additional music including the closing theme for ABC''s sit-com: Hope And Faith. He composed music used in NBC''s broadcast of the 2000 Summer and 2002 Winter Olympic Games. His music has also been heard on many other television shows including The Sarah Jones Show, Good Morning America, All My Children, The Today Show, Access Hollywood, Operation Junkyard, The Bachelor, America''s Most Wanted, The NFL on FOX, The NBA and WNBA on NBC, Showtime, MTV and CNN. Peter has also scored over 20 industrial videos for Pfizer, Pepsi, NYNEX, Kodak, Spencer Trask and other corporations.
As a performer, Peter spent 10 years playing the piano chair for the Broadway production of Miss Saigon. He also toured the U.S.A playing Keyboard 1 with Les Miserables and played in the Broadway Production of Phantom Of The Opera. He also served as Pianist/Conductor and Musical Director for the award winning original NYC production of Little Shop of Horrors. Peter has performed or recorded with Susan Anton, Don Cherry, Aretha Franklin, Allen Ginsberg, Annie Golden, Lillianne Montevecchi and spent 16 years as keyboard player in the artist/musician Larry Rivers Climax Band.
Peter has a Master''s Degree in Music Composition from Queens College, CUNY where he studied with Thea Musgrave, George Perle, Jimmy Heath and Sol Berkowitz.
