Song of Chance is a music collaboration that plays Armageddon Rock, and consists of members who love playing live. Armageddon rock is music to lift the Spirits! It is inspired by Sci-Fi, Horror, and Romantic literature, but at its essence it is just roots-based rock''n''roll. Founded in March 2005 by Jon Ramsey in South Philadelphia, Song of Chance has to its credit over 600 performances. In 2006 Song of Chance relocated to Richmond, Va, its present home. Some of the venues performed include New York''s Bar4 and CBGB''s(R.I.P.), Philly''s The Fire, and Richmond''s Toad’s Place. The band is at home in backyards as equally as concert halls. Their unique sound is grounded in the influences of American roots music, and British rock.
The project is currently closing in on their first release, In the Black. Produced by John Morand, who produced records for both Carbon Leaf and Cracker, it is a showcase of the vocal stylings of originator Jon Ramsey, and the unique players that make up the backbone of the band. The band is anxious and ready to move their performances, largely confined to the Richmond area, to music conferences in order to expose their uplifting music to new listeners, and win more fans.
