Details:
Bongo Honk: From Sunrise to Lullabies contains 14 original songs for young children written and performed by a fun loving character Bongo Honk,,, the alter ego of me, Steve Sandler, whose life long commitment to retaining a child''s wonder and appreciation of all that the universe presents, has led to a mid life compulsion to write and perform for children.

Over a three day period I wrote the first seven songs of the compilation. The proverbial muses were in my corner big time and guided me with great haste and a certainty I''d never known before. I felt like “songs were falling out of me” and I was not sure where they were coming from. Upon sober reflection there was no magic here. My life has always been about kids. I''ve been one myself for 56 years, raised two quite extraordinary ones with my wife Mary, and have been a special education teacher as well as a preschool computer educator. Somehow, I figure, my aging brain has been sorting all these experiences into song folders and a simple subconscious point and click opened them to me.
That''s probably nonsense... but it amuses me. In reality all of life amuses me except for the awful stuff; like war, suffering... you know... the awful stuff..

Seven other songs followed in the next few months and I was quite pleased with all of them. What to do? Choices; 1. Convince myself that they were really just ok and put them in a special place where my future grand kids could find them and think “I didn''t know Gramps was anything more than a kindly old, funny smelling person”. 2. Produce them myself on my dinosaur of a home computer accompanied by my awful guitar playing. Or 3. Spend our last bit of non retirement savings and have them produced professionally with talented musicians so that I could concentrate on my vocal performance and dazzle the world..

The choice I made was number 3. I think it was the right choice. Please give my tunes a listen. I hope they ring true, get your feet tapping. and you''ll want to share them with the little ones in your life.
