Reginald E. Pinckney - who is rumored to have been able to sing before he could talk - was raised in an impoverished African American neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida, where his mother and father bootlegged whiskey and ran an after-hours joint in the back of the house. Customers gave "little Reggie" nickels to sing the songs of Ma Rainey, Otis Redding, Billie Holiday and Ray Charles.
As his voice deepened so did his range of experience, which included singing in the church and on the stages of Europe. Pinckney''s singing took him across the United States, before crossing the Atlantic Ocean, where he was an expatriate performer in the Czech Republic. In 1996 , Pinckney led the Reginald Pinckney Trio, which toured extensively throughout Eastern Europe.
Currently, Reginald is living in Seattle and plays around town with the Reginald Pinckney Quartet. He can be heard burning up the stage at Tula''s in Belltown or Grazie''s in Bothell. He has recently released his first studio recording, appropriately titled "First Path".
Reginald launched the release of his new recording at Dimitrious'' Jazz Alley on December 6, 2004. To keep in step with the artist visit his web page at ; https://www.tradebit.com
