Details:
Merging the strengths and experiences of established R&B artists like The O’Jays and Stevie Wonder with the energy and influence of hip hop pioneers like Chuck D and Common, The Chestnut Brothers have dedicated their lives to making music that embody a positive message and awaken social consciousness, with their ongoing Stop the Violence Movement.

Blood brothers Al and Ty use music to find common ground between varying age groups, races and cultures. Hosting shows throughout the United States as well as, in the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East, these musical messengers spread love in the name of world peace with soulful, spiritually charged performances.

Combining their world peace and community service initiatives with an electrifying stage show has afforded them the privilege of performing and recording with a vast array of artists ranging from Luther Vandross, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Billy Paul and Grover Washington, Jr. to L.L. Cool J, The Oak Ridge Boys, Harry Connick, Jr.,80’s rock band Cheap Trick and folk legend Pete Seeger.

The Chestnut Brothers’ passion for social change is clearly reflected in several of their original songs, such as, mid-tempo, gospel flavored “Travelin’ On,” the reggae-tinged, feel-good vibes of “The People,” and especially, their self-explanatory theme song “Stop the Violence.”

“We’ve encouraged people to join us because world peace is something we all want. None of us are immune to the spread of crime and violence. The perfect anecdote is love, which, we try to promote through our everyday lifestyles, as well as, our music” Al explains.

“We are humanitarians by nature,” Ty continues and were raised by humanitarians; our parents. Which is why giving of ourselves to benefit others comes so naturally. Additionally, we believe our community service initiatives are assignments bestowed upon us by the Creator.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised in the City of Brotherly Love, this talented twosome has used their God-given singing, songwriting and production gifts to uplift the masses. On stage for more than three decades, some of their most notable performances include bringing down the house at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games festivities in Atlanta, grand opening of the Hard Rock Café in Philadelphia and the Jazz Café in London.

“We don’t try to solve the world’s issues” sums up Al. “We just try to shine a spotlight on them and enlighten as many people as we can through song and deed.”
